OUR STORY
We, Meenakshi and Sonali, share a passion. A passion to use natural and sustainable skincare products based on the principles of Ayurveda.
“Haldi ka lep” (turmeric paste), “Chandan Ubtan” (sandalwood scrub), “Kajal” (eye liner) made from soot are just a few examples of home-made beauty rituals we have grown up with. Weddings, family gatherings or even every day dressing up brought out the mortar and pestle and many such remedies were rustled up and applied. Based on Ayurvedic recipes passed down generations, these creations were clean, natural, and used ingredients readily available at home or in the garden.
The seed of Ciamor was planted during our time together at Pranaa, an Ayurveda-based spa and yoga studio in Plano co-founded by Sonali. Meenakshi’s expert knowledge and understanding of Ayurveda as a classically trained Ayurveda Vaidya fostered our bonding and shared passion for natural skin & body care products. After over ten years together at Pranaa, both of us moved on to work on our passion – natural and sustainable skincare.
Having experienced the benefits of homemade natural remedies firsthand, we wanted to commercially create similar products that were effective, completely natural, and safe for the environment. So, we brought out our mixers and grinders (the modern mortar and pestle) and tested different recipes with grains, roots, herbs, flowers, etc. After years of experimentation and enlisting our near and dear ones to be our testers and unflinchingly staying true to our motto, “Just Nature Nothing Else”, we bring to you Ciamor - instilled with our love of the earth and knowledge from centuries of Ayurvedic traditions. Ciamor products are completely natural, unadulterated, and earth-loving.
